I havent really talked with Nishat except hi Hello, she is the kid sister of Rahin.

I cant express how much I like Nishat, I better say her voice. When I used to call at Rahin's home and her sister said "Helloooooooo !!" ... Wooo, that was like a flute !

She has the best voice among the kids I know.

And among the adults, so far the best phone voice I know goes to Raffat, Raffat Zerin:)

Stupid Skype !!


It happened to me many times. When I call, it starts counting time, I hear nothing.


When being frustrated I hang up, it goest to a feedback page.



How frustating it is to see the first option then :@

Stupid skype. Just taking my money for nothing.. I can accept it once or twice, but not most of the times !!

I think I have told you before what is frost bite. Those who forgot, imagine what happens when u touch fire, cells are burnt, they die, and the skin becomes black bcoz of the dead cells.

Extreme cold can kill ur cells too, effect is the same, dead cells..the result is called frost bite.

I asked people here many times, how do I know if I am having it or not? When should I really run for a warm place ? They said, you will know it, you will feel the pain.


Friday night ( 23 Feb ) , when I went to bathroom to wash my hand, I almost jumped out !! My hands felt like burnt !

How the hell did it happen? When? I didnt skate or do any sports outside??


And I discovered reddish black spots on my hands !! Frost bites !! Crap !!
I didnt feel anything !

Finally I have discovered how it happened.
It happened at the daytime.
I called my sister when I was on the street. It was not so cold, I cant remember the temparature, but I was not feeling so cold. To press the numbers I took off my gloves, and continued talking in bare handed. I was feeling cold in my hand, not so serious.


Then I was probably enjoying talking with my mom, then dad, then uncles, and aunts and the cousins ( there were a loooot of ppl there), I forgot abt my hand.

When I cut the connection off, I was feeling really cold in hand, but not so painful, just cold...well in the meantime I had frostbite!!
And I carried it without noticing until I touched water.



I just hope the marks will disappear in time!

Hanna, you made it the best morning ever in Finland.

It was like this, I woke up listening the birds chirping, of course not real, it was a 25 min track of birds in my iPod.

Then I was waiting for bus 4, a sunny beautiful morning .. golden lights, -22 degree, fresh breath.

Bus 4 came and I got into it, Just then I felt some one pulling my jacket !
Hm ? what ? where?

And I found a little girl at the very front seat, Finnish looking kid, grinning at me ?


Hm ? What ? Did I do something wrong? Had I mistakenly put my foot on her toy rat or something?

Hey Looks like she is inviting me to sit beside her ! Hm ? I was surprised, but didnt miss the chance. I sat beside her and smiled.

I was trying to say " Hey Little girl, whats up?"

All that came to my brain is "Mita kulu" How are you?

She seemed confused. I asked again. She grinned and Said Hyva something.. I understood she said she is fine or something.

I wanted to say so many things !
Whats your name? Are you going to school ? Why did u stop me to sit by you ? Can you speak english ?

All I could do is smiling. She was also smiling showing her rabbit teeth.

I dragged my phone out and took a pic. I showed how the pic came.

Now she became really happy. She said something. I kept smiling and saying No by shaking my heads left-right.

We were just looking at each other...smiling.

Then she took her cute schoolbag out and dragged a book. Hm? Does she want to show her drawing or something. I leaned towards her to take a closer look.

She was turing pages after pages, looks like she was looking for something. I was looking at the book with interest.. very kiddish book, full of pics and her pencil drawings.

Hey ! Havent I just seen some english ? I looked closer .
Hey , yes there are some english texts .

She went to the last pages and I found english to finnish translations and vice versa ! Great !! Good ! Now we can talk.

Then we both tried to talk using her book.

I came to know her name is Hanna.
She is 10 years old.
She studies in a school called Myllyoja ( Not sure, most probably I heard something like that).
She lives in Kajanarjo, quite close to my place.

I gave her my phone number and web address.

I opened my cap , she too. We were laughing at our hairs:D
I tried to take a pic using the glass separting the bus driver from us ( we sat on the front seats). She helped me by jumping closer to me:D
Finally I had to jump off the bus, this was the first time I really didnt want to get down the bus in Fin. After how many days I talked with kid so freely !!

I got down and I waited until the bus left. I waved my hand...bye bye..she too.

I started walking to office. Then shit ! I forgot my cap. The second one. I had already lost one.

In a min I became excited again, I gave her my phone, if she notices my cap, she may call. That would be great. I will get chance to talk with the kid more.

In fact I am planning to take 8:30 bus 4 again and again to increase my chance to meet her.

I wish I could write today's post in Bangla, well, in that case many wont even know why I want to write in Bangla.

For those, who has never heard of it yet, today, 21st Feb is International Motherlanguage Day !

What on earth is that ?

It is to remind you how much you love your mother language, may be you are unaware of it, but u do...

People fight for land, some for rights...
And yes, Bangladeshis fought for their language !

In 1952, in Bangladesh, when many bangla-speaking people were massacred by the Pakistani police and Army, a number of young students died !! The first ever sacrifice of life for the sake of language.

It all started when Pakistan (when we were part of it) were trying to force : "Urdu and Urdu will be the ONLY state language".



Feburary 56, We still color those roads where the procession went through.


February 57, we still honour the sacrifice, will honour FOREVER !



Feb, recent days...We proposed and UNESCO agreed and declared this 21 feb as no longer only Bangladeshi day, rather an International day. Here is the monument at Dhaka which will be flooded by thousands and thousand of flowers today!!

The Linguapax Award is presented annually on International Mother Language Day.
UNESCO sets the theme for each International Mother Language Day and also holds events at its headquarters in Paris each year.

Today is a holiday in Bangladesh.

Hey I think a lot of you already know this story..for those who doesnt ( I got this in a forward mail chain, it was nice enough to put here)


A long time ago, before the world was created and humans set foot on it,
God had put all the human "qualities" in a separate room. Since all the
qualities were bored they decided to play hide & seek.

"Madness" was one of the qualities and he shouted: "I want to count, I
want to count!" And since nobody was crazy enough to want to seek
"Madness", all the other qualities agreed. So "Madness" leaned against a
tree and started to count: "One, two, three..."

As "Madness" counted, the qualities went hiding. "Treason" hid in a pile
Of garbage. "Lie" said that it would hide under a stone, but hid at the
bottom of the lake. And Madness continued to count "... seventy nine,
eighty, eighty one..."

By this time, all the qualities were already hidden-except "Love ". For
stupid as "Love" is, he could not decide where to hide? And! This should
not surprise us, because we all know how difficult it is to hide "Love".

"Madness": "...ninety five, ninety six, ninety seven..."

Just when "Madness" got to one hundred........."Love" jumped into a rose
bush where he hides. And Madness turned around and shouted: "I'm coming,
I'm coming!"

As Madness turned around, "Laziness" was the first to be found, because
"Laziness" was too lazy to hide. "Madness" searched madly and found
"Lie" at the bottom of the lake. One by one, Madness found them all -
except Love.

Madness was getting desperate, unable to find Love.

Envious of Love, "Envy" whispered to "Madness ": "You only need to find
Love, and Love is hiding in the rose bush."

"Madness" Jumped on the rose bush and he heard loud cry. The thorns in
the bush had pierced "Loves" eyes.

Hearing the commotion God came into the room and saw what had happened.
He got very angry and cursed "Madness" and said since "Love" has become
blind because of u.....u shall always be with him".

And so it came about that from that day on, Love is blind and is always
accompanied by Madness.

Shup came office ( extremely late) grinning with a box in his hand. A box came from London, supposed to be full of spices.

He opened, first things came were mango bars.
Shup gave me one ..mm..and gave Tuomas one.

Tuomas had tested those, coz i gave him some when I came from Dhaka last time, so he thought may be he would give to his fellow Finns so that they can know the test too, he threw it to Markus. Markus caught it from the air.


Shup took another bar and threw it to Tuomas.

This time Tuomas again thought something, and threw it to Harri.

I thought, ok I will give mine to Tuomas. And before I said, "Catch it" .. Shup threw another one to Tuomas.

Ok, so I have mine, I opened it and then Mikko came to our room walking..
Shup laughed: "Shit ! This is the last one, Mikko, I am not giving this to you !!"

I said, "Well I am giving u mine"

Mikko refused saying I tested that in Bangladesh Biman.

So here it goes..

I am not believing myself that I am saying this..

Two days before it was -30, right now it is -6 degree celcius.
I really feel like its summer today !

Well, this may help you to understand why on earth being a guy living most of life over 28 degree can say -6 is warm !!

-6 is 24 degree warmer than -30 !
If the weather gets 24 degree warmer how would you feel :)

I was browing in laptop facing the window !

Suddenly a looooot of birds.. chirping and flying..
They went away from the window .. came back and gone !!

I never saw so many birds in Finland together !!

The drama has been performed. First a ghost dropped two boxes at my home at Dhaka- One "Coopers" box and one "swiss" box.

Well , the house was in shock first, thinking there must have been some kinda mistake.. someone probably mistakenly dropped it to our place..

Nop ! It was delivered to the right place !!

Then? Can it be for my sis's birthday? But who the hell will deliver a cake ? No1 could think of any name ! And also today is not the birthday ! It's tomrrow ! If it is for my sis, who could it be that forgot the actual birth date !

Dad was shouting, may be my sis actually knows who is the guy that sent it ! But she is probably not saying it.

My sis came online and was asking me if I have any clue !!

I added some salt to the situation !!

As a result, they started checking the coopers box ! They havent opened it yet.. Is there really a cake inside the box ? Can it be something else ?


A clue was finally found. Our apartment gate keeper was asked by Dad, and he said, our driver told him this morning, some one may come with some packages, and the driver told the gatekeeper to keep those and send those upstairs !

Well, The gatekeeper didnt recognize the delivery "ghost" !

Now, where is the driver ? He left for the village !!

Call him !! Well the network had some probs I guess. The driver couldnt really hear what Dad was asking him by mobile !

Dad was almost shouting to the driver , why the hell did you send a cake ?

Finally the driver said something like, Gagan sent a cake from Finland !@(#"?)$

The box was finally opened.

Inside lied a black forrest cake from Coopers !
Which said " Ne, Kha " :)









It was sent by me, through a ghost :)
The driver was informed earlier so that the ghost faces no trouble to deliver the boxes hand to hand to the gatekeeper of our apartment.

Thank you "ghost".. thank you very much..the drama was far better than I expected.

1) First Shup's soup ( I always call him to make soup, he is great at that)
2) Sakari's Pizza ( Sakari is good at that, and its probably because pizza is the only thing he usually makes whenever he is too hungry)
3) Boiled rice (by Xia,hmm, shall I give any credit ? She used her rice cooker..hehe)

5) Spicy chicken fry (me) with sweet onion sauce ( Shup)
6) Dal ( lintel soup) ( me). Well, i just wanted to show all of them how a dal tastes, dont worry, my Bangladeshi friends, it was better than you are expecting:D

8) And finally Max's special cake (Max). It was really really a great cake.
