May be I am a little fatter than average :'(
But hey, looks like I am "HEALTHY" :D

I have suddenly noticed I am abroad for a year and I didn't really get sick !!!

I am trying to remember the attacks I had in last 365 days :D

Headache - 2/3 times a month, completely ignorable. Due to lack of sleep/ something like that.
Eye-flash (You dont need to know what this is...but this is terrible) - 1 in full attack, 2/3 times primary in last 365 days.
Stomach ache/gastric pain - Only 1ce, after I tried a terrible ride in a carnival.
Digestion system malfunction - ( You know what i mean, like Diarrhoea) : null (!)
Fever:
null (!)
Flue: null ( ! )
cough: null

And there were minor sickness couple of times, like weired tiredness ( no inspiration to do anything at all), ankle / knee / finger ache due to jogging or volleyball. But I don't think I should count them !!

Yah, I m acknowledging my healthiness :) ( Wait...haa ...aaa...hacsooowww)

( Kidding)

It's cool that your are healthy :) I think getting sick in abroad is much worse than getting sick in home. It's difficult to endure cause you must want some special people around you while you are sick but you cant if you are abroad.

One guy sent the following email to his colleagues:

From: $user who for whatever reason came in on Monday when no one else was in the building.
To: IT Dept.
Re: A/C constantly running.

Hi Guys,

I came in today (Monday) to finish up a project I was working on before our big meeting with a potential client tomorrow, and I noticed that there were three or four large air conditioners running the entire time I was here. Since it's a three day weekend, no one is around, why do we need to have the A/C running 24/7? With all the power that all those big computers in that room use, I doubt it is really eco-friendly to run those big units at the same time. And all computers have cooling fans anyway, so why put the A/C for the building in that room? I got a keycard from $facilitiesmanager's desk and shut off the A/C units. I'm sure you guys can deal with it being warm for an hour or two when you come in tomorrow morning. In the future, let's try to be a little more conscientious of our energy usage.

Thanks.

Well, this was the RESULT:

Fatalities: Exchange Server, Domain Controllers, a few Sun boxes that I'm not sure of the usage.

Near-Fatalities: Phone Switch, Apps Servers.

Temperature of server room 7AM Tuesday Morning: 90 Degrees Fahrenheit.

Status of Employee who sent the above e-mail: Terminated.

So Dont try to be smart always:)

Maze ( Meyz) = Puzzle.
Past participle form is "Mazed" ( Meyzd)

My last name = "Mazed" ( Maazeyd)

Sakari found a super cool dialog for me.
After making a joke/fun/prank, I can point to the person and say...
"You have just been Mazed ( Meyzd)"
hehe

Also I am 'amazed' (Ameyzd)
because my name is "A. A. Mazed"

hehehee

"You have just been mazed again"

I love Gmail ! :D

Gmail is cool. Those who know me, know that how "terribly" I use email. One of my gmail is already using 620MB !

Now Gmail is going to support 20MB of attachment !! Wohoo !!

Gmail rocks !

Gagan

(Why am I advertising for gmail ?
Because their name starts with G !
..hehe...

anyways, nop, I m not advertising... I am just happy with their services, so you can consider this as a testimonial)

And dont forget the craze when Gmail was allowing accounts only through invitations! I even saw some people telling in newspapers, "I have 100 invitations, contact me!"

And finally check this out. I have found this in someone's blog.

Almost everyday i eat my luch in University Restaurant in the city center. It is just in the same building of "Unemployment service office"

It feels a little odd to eat and watch those unemployed people's worried faces, standing in the queue!
I mean, at least there could be a wall, not just a glass to remind the students what may be ahead !!

25th May, year 2006.
Helsinki...
I had shivered when I stepped out of the airport. I remember completely the temperature...the smell that I smelt... The curiosity and tiredness that I felt...

25th May, year 2007
Today.
Here in Oulu...

I m silently feeling the anniversary.
I m silently missing my poeple and my country that I had left.
I m silently enjoying the new people and the new country that I have now.

A silent anniversary of being a foreigner !!

Me, after one year... Taken at ARDITES.. ( Infront of toilet, not in NDA zone)

( Dont get confused by looking at the counter on the top of this page, which is 315 days today. It is less than 365 because I was in Bangladesh for 50 days in between)

I already had a really bad news last night ( You dont want to know that :/ )
Looks like it is still continuing.

When i opened my eyes today, the clock said it's 9:15. I was terribly late. I started running and got ready in 15 minutes. I was about to step out of the door, then I remembered...damn I forgot some paper I need. I had to run back, open the locked room and get the paper.

I ran outside, and the empty bus stop told me, I have just missed the bus. Well, next bus is in less than 10 minutes. So I was waiting. I wanted to fetch my cell phone out of the pocket..and then... Damn !! I forgot my bas card and keys ( they are in the same parse) !!

I ran back to the apartment. Went to the 7th floor again.. Now I dont have the keys !! I wished mahmood was inside. I rang the bell. No response. I rang more.. No response... more..more...more... finally after few minutes, mahmoods sleepy face peeped out ! I was really sorry to wake him up like that..but well I had no option.

By the time I got keys I missed the next bus. Then I decided to go for next bus stop. Coz bus 19 would go through that in a few minutes. Well i walked there and started waiting. The bus came. I stepped in...and then ...shit i forgot the work badge with the electronic key ( The one that I have to hang around my neck). I said sorry to the queue of people behind me and got out of the bus pushing them.

I had to get to my apartment one more time to get it. And finally i came to work at 1030 by bus 4.

What a morning... what a start of the day. I couldnt start working, but write this post. I wonder what more are there ahead today. I wish nothing more !

It's all because of the weather change ;) Sun hid behind clouds and you start falling apart... But on the other hand if something starts badly it can be finished amazingly good.

  • At 12:28 PM, Blogger Gagan

    (That was a fast comment!)
I think it's more like this, when bad things start happening, and then something normal ( not bad ) happens, you find it amazingly good too, even though in normal situation you won't find it 'amazingly good'

So i will just wish that nothing worse happens:)

You have read this before. In last November, when the world here was covered under snow. Read it again, because I m homesick. I am trying to understand, why? I am thinking of a question. If I bring my parents, my sister, my 3 best friends here, will I ever feel homesick ? Is homesickness because you miss the people you know ? or is it because 'you had a life there' ! Or is it because of some unknown, unexplainable feelings for your country, even though it sucks!

I dont know the answer. May be it is because of all, may be it is because of none. Sometime you even feel "lifesick"... You start asking yourself what is the meaning of being alive? What am I doing here ? and stuffs. So may be these sicknesses will come sometimes... no matter where you are, how you are ! In my case, they come when after a terrible busy week, a lonely weekend comes.

my husband and i will be moving to Bangladesh soon, i was very worried since every thing i have seen and read so far made it seem dangerous a move but these photos has arrested my fears locking them away, they are magnificent i can't wait to come to a place with so much beauty and culture. Thank you.

  • At 2:56 PM, Blogger Gagan

    Goodluck you two !
Well, pictures were absoultely nice and taken from the best possible angle.

But there are certain truths out there ! Slums, beggars, social problems. If you are open to welcome these, it may be an adventure, otherwise really annoying.

I have found two groups of foreigners. One, annoyed and just waiting to go back. Another, taking it as an adventure to know about something that couldnt know unless being here !!

Try to see outside Dhaka city. Country side is beautiful and peaceful !!

    Best of luck again!
